Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of isothis.shop, operated by IsoThis (“we,” “us”). By creating an account or using the site you agree to them. Questions: teddy@isothis.shop.

The service

IsoThis is a marketplace that connects collectors looking for specific items (“buyers”) with people who have those items (“sellers”). We facilitate discovery, messaging, payment, and shipping between the parties. The sale itself is between the buyer and the seller: we are not the seller of listed items and do not take title to them. Payments are processed by Stripe; shipping labels are provided through Shippo. The shipping address you save to your account also serves as your billing address on file; the billing details for a card payment itself are collected by Stripe at checkout.

Accounts and conduct

  • You must provide accurate information and keep your account secure.
  • You may not use the platform for anything unlawful, to request or list anything in a prohibited category (see “Prohibited items and content” below), to mislead other users, or to interfere with the service.
  • We may suspend or remove accounts that violate these terms.

Purchases, fees, and shipping

Buyers pay the listed price at checkout; we may charge sellers a platform fee on completed sales, disclosed before they accept. Sellers are responsible for shipping the item as described, using the label provided or another tracked method. Disputes about an item’s condition or delivery should be reported to us promptly and we will work with both parties in good faith.

Text-message notifications (SMS program terms)

  • IsoThis notifications alert you when a buyer wants an item you sell, when a buyer or seller messages you, and when your transactions update (payment confirmations, shipping status).
  • You receive texts only if you opt in by providing your phone number and checking the consent box at signup. Consent is not a condition of using the service or of any purchase.
  • Message frequency varies based on your marketplace activity.
  • Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan.
  • Reply STOP to cancel at any time, or HELP for help (or email teddy@isothis.shop).
  • Phone numbers and opt-in consent are not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Email notifications

  • Service email is part of operating the platform: matches and shortlists for your requests, offers, messages, receipts, shipping updates, and sign-in links are sent to your account’s email address.
  • Marketing email is sent only with your explicit opt-in — the “Product news & tips” preference, which is off by default.
  • Every non-security email includes a one-click unsubscribe link and a link to your notification preferences on your account page.
  • Opting out of a category stops those emails; the updates themselves remain visible in the app. Security emails (sign-in links and account notices) are sent as needed regardless of your preferences.
  • Sellers we contact using publicly available business contact information can unsubscribe in one click, which permanently suppresses their address from our outreach.

Prohibited items and content

Requests and listings in the following categories are refused or removed, and repeat attempts may result in account suspension. Our payment, email, and text-messaging providers prohibit transactions and communications involving these categories, and we enforce their rules as our own:

  • Weapons, firearms, firearm parts, and ammunition.
  • Illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia.
  • Prescription-only or pharmaceutical products.
  • Adult content and sexual services.
  • Any sexual content involving minors — removed immediately and reported to the authorities.
  • Solicitation of people, companionship, or marriage arrangements — this is a marketplace for items, never for people or personal services.
  • Counterfeit or knockoff goods misrepresented as authentic.
  • Stolen goods, or goods you have no right to sell.
  • Alcohol, tobacco, e-cigarettes, and vaping products.
  • Gambling services and real-money gambling instruments.
  • Hazardous or regulated materials (explosives, fireworks, radioactive or biohazardous items).
  • Perishable food.
  • Live animals and regulated wildlife products (ivory, endangered-species parts).
  • Government-issued IDs and official documents, real or “novelty.”

Items that merely reference these themes — toys and props clearly marked as such, empty display bottles and barware, card or comic art, militaria like medals and uniforms — are welcome in their real categories.

Content screening and moderation

We screen requests and listings with automated systems (including AI) and human review, before and after they appear publicly. We may refuse, hold for review, remove, or restrict any content at our discretion — including content we determine is not a genuine item request (nonsense, implausible pricing, or bad-faith posts). Content held for review is not publicly visible until a reviewer clears it. If you believe a decision was made in error, contact teddy@isothis.shop and we will take a second look.

Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is.” To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, and our aggregate liability for claims relating to the service is limited to the greater of $100 or the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Changes

We may update these terms; material changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms. See also our Privacy Policy.
